Nice presentation. Clear and to the point. I'm glad all the changes you have made are having a positive impact in your classroom. I'm sure all your students really appreciate all the time and effort you've put into making your school the Best School in the Universe! Keep up the good work!

Michael,

Your efforts are evidently having an amazing impact on your school. I'm curious to how long it takes to call home for both positive and negative. How have you planned this out so you're not spending hours on the phone? I ask only because I know many don't want to get tied to long conversations outside of school time.

I've also noticed the impact of having my door open, and it really does allow more opportunity to help students. It's great to see how the school responds so quickly to such "small" changes. Furthermore, incorporating environmental concerns to the "Do No Harm" concept is a great idea. Especially, with the changes in my district to have sustainable systems set up, such as composting, recycling and decreasing garbage pick-ups, it should be tied in with our practice in our classrooms. Also, focusing on "Do" rather than "Know" reminds me of how I always tell students who apologize that it's more important to fix the mistake or prevent it from happening again than to simply say "sorry."

Congratulations so far in making a difference at your school, I'm sure your continual efforts will make its way to positively affecting others to do the same.

Michael, I like the the idea of "do" rather than "know." It is a great way to teach ownership. Thank you for sharing in such detail how you have implemented the four pillars into your circle of influence.

Michael,
Oh! I did not know that you are in the process of becoming a paperless classroom. High-five! I have been through the transition and know how challenging it to help students and parents make the transition. One thing you are doing that I wish I had done is simultaneously working on building a positive classroom culture thorough face-to-face interactions. I am just now beginning to find the perfect balance. It seems like you are going to rock it!

Nice Prezi. Very organized and to the point. I like what you said about using tone of voice and language. I believe that everyone is more receptive to taking in and accepting information when it's pleasant to the ears. It's also great that you are moving towards a paperless classroom. It's hard to give up all the good/old curriculum that you used in the past, but I think that that is how we make way for the future: clear out the past. Nice work!
